we are all athletes. It wouldn't be fair if my team got cut.

Not a skier, but I feel the need to support gustavus athletics. Especially a sport that doesn't require a new stadium or facility, just snow.

If money's not the issue, what is? Those affected by this decision should at least know the reasoning behind it. If there is a real problem, perhaps students can work with the athletics department on a solution that results in nordic skiing remaining a varsity sport. If we don't know what the problem is (is there a problem?), how can we hope to fix it?

Why? Just why? If you can cut one program why not the swimming program? I'm a swimmer, I've been training since 5th grade to be a swimmer. I wanted to go to Gusdavus to swim there. But if you can just cut programs without thinking about the athletes that participate in that sport, then I don't know if I want to represent a dream crushing school... You could have at least warned them... But no... I'm sorry, but you lost my respect, and you lost a potential student... Have a good day.

This completely unfair to the athletes that came here to this school to take part in this sport. It disgusts me to think that this could happen to a VARSITY sport that people at our school take pride in. Also, it makes me concerned wondering what could be cut next. It's unbelievable to think that nordic skiing doesn't "fit" our school's future plans, but beer pong does!

It's understandable if it is no longer financially viable, but at least allow a vote or some type of proposal for a new fee that would cover losses instead of making a decision without any input from the actual athletes or coaches.

they dont take up really any room and they dont cost near as much money as other sportsthat add even less to the school. blows my mind that the biggest room in lund is given to a team of about 8 girls and its useless to the rest of the school which is crammed into a tiny weight room and tiny endurance area.

Shortsighted. I know many excellent students who were first attracted to GAC because it had a collegiate Nordic team. Now others like them will look elsewhere first- and these are phenomenal students and better people.
