In an area of the country where nordic sports are so a part of life it seems unbelievable that you would cut something to vital, Nordic is a way of life, these kids will ski for ever and share the healthy life style with hundreds if not thousands along the way - what other NCAA sports can boost that - few if any SAVE the nordic program!

Collegiate skiing builds strong bodies minds, and community. Please consider reinstating this program. The Superiorland Ski Club has sent you some fabulous skiers. I know that they made their school choice based heavily on being able to ski at the collegiate level.

Carleton was so stupid to drop Nordic a decade ago -- don't do it Gustavus! Cross-country skiing is central to what Minesota is all about.

As someone who spent his career as a University Professor and as someone who has been active in the sport of croos country skiing for over 35 years, this is a hyge mistake

Skiing is a life long sport. Not many collge basketball players or football are still playing beyond 30. Many people are skiing and even racing well into their 60s! This is truly the most Minnesota of sports. What were you thinking? If you want to promote life long learning and life long donating reinstate this important sport.

I don't live in Minnesota but coach youth cross country skiing in Ohio. If there isn't a skiing program at this college, that is in Minnesota, then where would be a better place to have it? How can it not be in the college's interests to have such a program? In a place where it snows and a much longer winter than Ohio. The program should be restored for the athletes, for the sport, for all those who love skiing. My daughter might have considered attending the college because it had such a program..

Nordic skiing in the U.S. On the collegiate circuit is already small enough, cutting programs such as the one at Gustavus Adolphus, is only making the problem worse.

Maintaining connections between sport and athletics is important. NCAA status provides a focus and clarity of mission for these young athletes that makes them better students and better citizens. It also provides a powerful incentive for athletes to stay in school; not just delay their academic pursuits and eventual move into the job market.

As a resident of Taos, NM, I understand the importance of supporting the skiing community and culture. I also and especially support the value of including students -- the very ones paying tuition -- being included in decisions that could mean the end of programs that enhance their health, well-being and long-term enjoyment of life. I wish for Gustavus Adolphus that the students are included in such decisions in the future -- they have the potential to find solutions to financial problems -- encourage that, please.

Collegiate nordic skiing is important for healthy minds ready to learn. The numbers of hours it takes to train for nordic skiing far surpasses that of any other sport, and this builds character, especially perseverance, and patience its participants. How was the decision reached to cut out nordic skiing rather than another sport, especially given the low financial cost of nordic skiing compared with, say, basketball?.
Go huntleys!!!
save the sport!
