My success as a student and as a cross country runer in the fall was a direct result of my participation in Nordic skiing at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Over 40 years after my graduation, I'm still skiing and active in the sport, while Bates, which became an NCAA Division I program my senior year, has continued the tradition of a small liberal arts school competing at the highest level in NCAA sports. It's sad and truly disconcerting to me, that Gustavus can determine that a lifelong sport like Nordic skiing does not fit into "the future plans" of the school. What greater future do the existing sports at the school offer than Nordic ski racing.

Please keep the team that is so important to your students. Our friend would not have applied to your school without the Nordic Ski Team.

i understand that the college budget is not an easy thing to figure out. But there are some things the students and comunity should not have to do without and skiing is a small enough sport as it is without further limiting it. This decision disrupts students and faculties lives and should be reconsidered.

Nordic skiing is a life long sport. Skiing alumni will have fond memories of their years at Gustavus Adolphus College.

What a foolhardy and poorly thought out decision! Why does the nordic ski team "not fit into the future plans of our school"? What future plans could possibly support abolishing Nordic Skiing as a varsity sport at Gustavus? Please reconsider this foolhardy and short-sighted decision!.

Bring back Nordic Skiing! It is what provides enjoyment in student's lives...And what drives them to apply to Gustavis Adolphis.
