A disgrace for any visitor to the town to see it in this state. What kind of impression of Elgin does this give? It was given to the people of Elgin as a gift, the council should take care of that gift.

The importance of this building must be given priority. Thousands of Elgin people's lives have been influenced and guided through their Library and it must be preserved before it deteriorates any further. It belongs to the people of Elgin. Elgin has destroyed far too much of ourheritage already! What an exciting project this could become for the community to participate in.

Get a grip Moray council you should be ashamed of yourselves for letting the building get in the state its in never mind even considering tearing it down

Shocked to hear of the situation with this beautiful buiding in its equally beautiful location. Apart from the architecture it holds so many memories of Elgin for so many people. Given how souless Elgin is these days, this could be restored as a museum, shop, workshops etc and give Elgin a focal point again. As a Heritage Centre it could help regenerate interest in the many interesting buildings hidden between the charity and cheap shops. I meet people all over the world who have visited Elgin and have such fond memories - lets try and save the last few before they go like the rest into roads etc

I was assistant area librarian in grant lodge in the 1990s, the historical atmosphere was 2nd to none. Do not close this gorgeous building!

Sir George Cooper gifted Grant Lodge to the people of Elgin. If the Council don't feel able to honour the gift maybe those who wish to do so should be given the chance.
