Successive councils have destroyed much of the fabric of old Elgin : Assembly Rooms : RBS building : Relief (Alexandra) Road : Northview ; Ruination of the centre of the town. They must not be allowed to continue with the wanton destruction of Grant Lodge.

This is a beautiful historic building that has been allowed to fall into disrepair. Moray Council please do the right thing and save the beautiful history of Elgin for future generations to enjoy.

Grant Lodge is of historic and architectural significance. The Council as Trustees , has shown to be incapable of maintaining the building and have been in breech of their obligations in its upkeep. Money , from insurance following a fire 10 years ago is being withheld. In the meantime the building has fallen into a state of disrepair , and the community it is meant to serve has been deprived of the use of an historic building , lying in the centre of the city. This building must not be allowed to remain in its sorry state any longer. A joint plan for its future use must be made involving The People of Elgin as soon as possible. All the previous studies should be used to decide , once and for all how it can become the grand and beautiful list B building it was and is supposed to be. And the plan put into action. No more excuses. No more dithering. Get the community behind the scheme and get it done.

Grant lodge needs to fulfil its potential to the people of Elgin to whom it was bequeathed. A wonderful tourist opportunity exists in the form of an arts centre and wedding venue.

Demolition cannot be allowed to be an option, we've already allowed much of the heritage of Elgin to be destroyed including Northfield House, learn from past mistakes and keep this beautiful building standing & make it useful again. The Haugh was saved from demolition and is now one of the best hotels in the area something for Elgin to be proud of, we must allow Grant Lodge the same future.
