Save Giant Steps School

I hope AIND is not closing Giant Steps due to the unresolved lawsuit over burdensome property taxes levied by the town of Fairfield. The case, filed in 2018, remains unresolved as of this date in the New Britain tax court.

As a mother of an autistic child, I have met several students who attended Giant Steps and made significant change from their program. There are so many who desperately need their educational services.

What is the use of living, if it be not to strive for noble causes and to make this muddled world a better place for those who will live in it after we are gone? How else can we put ourselves in harmonious relation with the great verities and consolations of the infinite and the eternal? And I avow my faith that we are marching towards better days. Humanity will not be cast down. We are going on swinging bravely forward along the grand high road and already behind the distant mountains is the promise of the sun. As the grandmother of a special needs child who has been succeeding because of the targeted education he continues to be fortunate to receive, I support the intent of this petition.

I used to be a care taker for a boy who went to Giant Steps. This school helped my client in so many ways. I remember the work he did at this school. His teachers even reached out to give me advice on what to work on with him. Now I am a teacher and I still use the strategies they taught me today. Save Giant Steps!!!!!
