Help us petition to save my dads (George Ward) water ski course. My dad recently got news from the Tyler lake patrol that he can no longer ski on a course we worked on for roughly 15 years and is devastated by the news. Growing up as a kid it was the first job I ever had digging out the lake to create what we didn't know at the time would become a beautiful water ski course and add immeasurable value to the surrounding property. He got news over the Memorial Day weekend that he was no longer allowed to ski in the cove that we have put countless man hours into creating. Granted the ski course is in a "no wake" zone however, construction on this course started many years before those signs were even thought of being placed with the lake patrol and permit office knowing and agreeing to the end result the whole time! All of the neighbors who his wakes affect are perfectly fine with the fact that he skis back there and even enjoy the show or join at times, so it is a very big bummer to all of us to hear this news. He has stated that if he cannot continue to ski and enjoy what he has created than there is no reason for him to continue to own the property and will sell it and buy some where he can water ski. This is the one true passion my dad has and to see the effect it has on him is saddening to say the least. We aren't harming anyone and he has even agreed to quit skiing in the meantime while we get the final verdict. Please help add power to the voice shouting to let him continuing do what he is passionate about and really enjoys doing.

I would like to know the lake patrol's reasoning/argument for suddenly prohibiting the use of this ski course that has been in place and caused no problems for more than 15 years??
I pray a peaceful resolution will be achieved. This man has brought many hours of happiness to lots of people over the years and promoted Lake Tyler. I have several new friends who want to buy a house out here after just one weekend of hanging out in our cove. George deserves his ski course and his time of happiness!
What harm is the water skiing doing to the environment? This sounds like a bureaucratic decision rather than one based on reason. Neighbors are on board, coarse pre-dates the no wake zone. How can this be a problem. Let the man ski!
This is a safe cove for skiing, which the name of game and is an asset to all. Fisherman stay happy and skiers stay happy.. Its been this way for 10 plus years everyone has been agreeable.
If all the neighbors don't have a problem with your dad skiing and brings more joy to everyone's life on the lake and everyone's else that gets to watch I see no logical reason why the man shouldn't be able to ski! Things like this is what makes East Texas unique I'm all in for it staying!

Waterskiing has been the best family sport for my family. It allows good quality family time. The sport is not easy and requires practice. Removal of the course will take away family time and quality exercise. Before you make a decision, please go spend a day with Mr Ward and see the benefits of keeping the ski course.
