Final supporters
We, the residents of Gateway School District, petition the school board and administrators to stop the drastic cuts in the department of athletics; in particular the cut of the Athletic Director and Secretary to part-time status as well as the elimination of the Athletic Director’s Assistant. A school of this size, Quad A, cannot afford a 66% reduction of athletic personnel when 63% of student athletes are in High School.
The athletic department has already sustained budget cuts over the past year or so in the 10’s of thousands. This current proposed cut is one cut the students cannot afford. We should not sacrifice the talents and abilities of our students because of the poor judgment of the current administration. Public schools will continue to suffer when the primary focus is no longer the student.

This is ridiculous. These sports are the only thing keeping kids out of trouble and focused on school. Leave the department alone.

my son plays varsity and this is just gonna make everything a total mess during the season. stop cutting things that actually matter to the students and look at the admin salaries instead.
