Save Fullers Road

This proposal is ridiculous! Fullers road needs 2 lanes as so much traffic uses it to access the M2!!!

As a cyclist who travels down Fullers Rd, I am very concerned that this road may become more dangerous with narrowing.

Action needs to happen ! We need more traffic lanes not less!

This shouldn't happen

I use Fullers Road to enter and exit McLean Ave, a very risky maneuver. Sitting in the right downhill lane, to turn right with traffic traveling at 80 kl down the blind bend often swerving at the last second into the left lane regardless of a space being available. I agree that the problem is the speed of the traffic coming down the hill. My request for an speed advisory orange mobile trailer has been refused on the basis that it technically can not work in that location. I disagree and believe if a speed 'blitz' was regularly done on Fullers Road it would improve the dangerous situation we now have. Another option would be to install traffic lights or a round about at the intersections of Anglo and Edger Streets as this would also assist the pedestrians using this long stretch with out any way of crossing safely between the Highway and Grevelle Street. The single lane option will address some of the problems of Fullers Road and will make it safer to turn but it may well cause many other problems in doing so. If it becomes a congestion nightmare, it may force some uses to Mobray Road etc, reducing the traffic volume to more local traffic only. It will be a dogs breakfast for a few weeks but hopefully when thing settle down we may just have an overall improvement in safety for uses of Fullers Road. Something has to be done noting is going to 100% perfect or suitable to all, at least this is a start.

Your argument doesn't make sense to me. I understood the whole point of narrowing the road on one side to one lane was to allow for right hand turning bays PRECISELY to stop the very accidents you refer to on the other side of the road. Have I misunderstood something ?

These changes will NOT make gridlock any worse. The real issue is that two lanes go into one mid way down. So narrowing one side of fullers rd to one lane is NOT going to make traffic any worse.

Finally we are getting some action. Two years since a community consultation that supported these changes. Fullers Rod divides a community that needs access across Fullers Road and reduced speed of through traffic especially downhill. Reducing the lanes will NOT create any more congestion than there is already but the addition of turning bays will mitigate the numerous rear end accidents that occur at Anglo, Mclean, Edgar and Park Ave. This has had YEARS of discussion and its about time it went ahead. If you want to solve the traffic problem ask RMS to widen the road to two lanes down to the river. And good luck with that.

Your response doesn't make sense to me. A right hand turn bay into Park will obviously stop a huge number of rear ender accidents that occur on Fullers Rd at that location.

Your'e just worried about more traffic in Park Ave, not road safety. RH at Edgar St will help Park Ave

half the detractors say one lane will cause gridlock, the other half say it won't reduce speed. No further comments required!!

If "reducing the speeed limit has made no change, but reducing to one lane will slow up the already slow lanes" isn't that what you want. Your comment makes no sense. In any event the argument is over - the work will be finished next week.

I do not support narrowing the road to one lane. However, I also do not support a speed camera. I think the current situation is sufficient.

As new (ie 8 weeks) residents in Davies St, my wife and I are rapt in the change. We've both been almost cleaned-up by inattentive following drivers as we've waited to turn right into our street. The turning bays are a great safety idea. Well done RMS. Ian McDonald
