I can not believe I am reading this ... I live opposite Pennington Park and this cafe is amazing. They work so hard for our community and what they do at Christmas is heart warming and thus can not be taken away from them. I feel very strong about this.

Absolutely shocking Wigan council bad enough u spend all the money on Wigan and not the rest of us but to try and take something away that the people who run it do it voluntary and something that the community is proud of you should hang you're heads in shame , disgraceful

I was lucky enough to play some music at this cafe in the summer. It's run by lovely people who've worked to make it a haven on a sunny afternoon for the good people of Leigh. I'm a leyther through and through and it saddens me to see wigan council ripping the heart out of a voluntary institution for pure profit. In a world of doom and gloom all the time Pennington's tea room is an example of people working hard to make the world a brighter place for nothing more than the joy of helping others smile. It may be a small voluntary run business. But there's more heart in that tea room than in the whole of wigan council. I for one say. "Hands off our tea room".

You bring some sunshine into a commity and fat greedy cats want to take it away, please help save such a warm comfy place we're the young and old can come together and live as one, as a Leigh lass one has a great sense of pride in local people helping bring a commity together I will fight in my father's name Jack Pennington.

Wigan council. If you have any integrity left at all, you will leave this lovely little place alone and go open a cafe somewhere else! Let this great little service continue with its much loved volunteers!
