Keep it open ! its needed for the community. Its important to the local community. Its an asset for us all to have. It gives local community a purpose to go out to the park for more enjoyment with friends and family. Do not close. !!!

These volunteers have turned the park from an eyesore to a local attraction.
The park has become a community hub through the hard work of these people who actually care about the area.
The people who are making these decisions are supposed to be acting on behalf of the tax paying voting local public yet it seems no-one is listening.
Do the right thing Wigan Council.

I ran a group which transformed Atherton Park, after it had been left to rot by the council. I am afraid the council are way out of touch and pretend to support the communities through projects like the Deal. They do not understand what great community spirit there is within the Borough and will not join in with this spirit, unless they are in control of the public. Wigan Council needs to employ a person or people with genuine enthusiasm who will mingle and support there great communities. Unfortunately at the moment if its not the council who are pulling the strings, nothing interests them. Good luck with your petition.

The council are very short sited, just because dedicated people make a go of it, putting it out to tender will ruin any prospect of this project remaining a success. Bryan J John

How could the council do such a dispicitable thing! The park because of the efforts of FOPHP is now used as a community function and is visited by many outside the area. Long may the tearoom be run by the voluntary group FOPHP.

Why on Earth would Wigan want to destroy such a wonderful focal point of our community. The effort that has been put into breathing life into Pennington Hall Park cannot be unrecognised. The lack of the hall in itself was the result of short sighted individuals who know the price of everything but the value less so. Let's not let this happen again. Leigh and Pennington Hall Park with or without the Hall cannot be ruined let Leigh benefit from the rates for a change instead of big wiggin

Wigan say they can't afford to support Pennington Tea Room. Well if they can afford to spend money on useless signs telling us how long it will take us to get to the Flash, or Leigh town centre or the sixth form college. They can find the money to keep this lovely tea room open.

What a wonderful service the volunteers provide for the community. It provides a community hub for our area. Just as we are beginning to enjoy the fruits of this lovely cafe, some bright spark wants to take it away and spoilt it for us. Keep Wigan hands off.

Trish and George have done a brilliant job, with the tea room. As far as I'm concerned it's just greed from Wigan council, nothing was said when 8.2 million pounds was spent refurbishing wigan town hall, and another 3.4 million pounds spent doing up mesnes park wigan I think Wigan council are grabbing Bastards. They only look after Wigan and sod every other borough that comes under them .
