A local community group called Friends of Pennington Hall Park set up a voluntary group, they took over a rundown building within the parks grounds and made a lovely , cosy, little cafe. They have organised community events that involve all ages of the community and created a lovely atmosphere within the park, they really have brought this park back to life. They have just been informed that after they had been given a 5 yr lease on the building the local council have announced they have 6 mths left and the building is being put to tender. These people and the local community are devastated as they really have put their heart and soul into this project. Please help by signing this petition to send to our local council to show them how supported and grateful we are. Thanks .

Reaching this level of support confirms that our cafe is far more than just a building to the people who visit it. This momentum highlights how much the space truly belongs to the neighbors who have invested their time and care into keeping it open.

Watching the signature count rise toward one hundred shows that our neighbors truly value the space we created together. We need to maintain this momentum to demonstrate to the council that the cafe is a vital part of our community fabric. Please take a moment to pass this link along to someone else who enjoys our park.

This cafe has been well run by the volunteers, from an old run down ex shop to a lovely welcoming cafe they organise several events throughout the year all of which will be a massive loss to the local community if this is tendered out to a private firm

excellently run cafe, we had a really fun time doing pumpkin carving, with donkey rides and play slide. My 5 grandchildren had a fantastic time. The youngest even said on the way home "that was the best day ever Grandad". It doesn't get much better than that

I use to work at a care home where we brought our residents here in the summer, they loved it. Some care homes don't have the funding to do social activities with there residents. Taking this cafe away from Pennington Park will be such ashame.

The volunteers who run this cafe have breathed life back into this park and have done loads for the community. This effects all us local residents. WMBC please listen and leave well alone, there is more to running a local community than profit margins.

Im from New Zealand and visited the tea rooms in July when I came to visit my mother. These people deserve a lease Roll over and not put out to Tender. They have proved that they have got the recipe right. Why change it now if it isn't broken.

I can not believe I am reading this ... I live opposite Pennington Park and this cafe is amazing. They work so hard for our community and what they do at Christmas is heart warming and thus can not be taken away from them. I feel very strong about this.

Keep it open ! its needed for the community. Its important to the local community. Its an asset for us all to have. It gives local community a purpose to go out to the park for more enjoyment with friends and family. Do not close. !!!

These volunteers have turned the park from an eyesore to a local attraction. The park has become a community hub through the hard work of these people who actually care about the area. The people who are making these decisions are supposed to be acting on behalf of the tax paying voting local public yet it seems no-one is listening. Do the right thing Wigan Council.
