We the undersigned cannot accept the decision of Cardiff Council to effectively close Flat Holm Island. This Island is a Local Nature Reserve, Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area. It is historically important for many things, a lighthouse built in 1737; Victorian and World War II gun emplacements, a former Cholera hospital and fog horn station buildings. It is a valued part of South Wales tourism and should not be subject to short term austerity measures.
