The City of New Westminster has tabled an idea to move the Canada Games Pool weight room into the FIT New West gym at the Centennial Community Centre. The Centre hosts a variety of classes ranging from Yoga, Body flow, to Stretch classes and serves hundreds if not thousands of people around the Lower Mainland. The age range of the participants varys from 16-80+ years of age. Some of the instructors have taught close to 40 years at the Centre. It is lifeblood and gathering place of many friends who seek to improve their physical and mental well-being. Please sign this petition to send a very important message to Centennial Community Centre Management and New West city Council to keep fitness classes going at the Centre!!

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but seeing this level of momentum proves we are not alone in this fight. It is hard to keep going sometimes when the decisions feel already made yet your engagement reminds me why we cannot back down.

You may not realize that inclusion in a class is someone’s connection point and they may be in bad shape mentally if they don’t have access. Routine is also important. Leave the classes as is. They are lifesaving for many I am sure.
The New West gym is one of the few community gyms in New Westminster. With no pool open during the fall, winter and spring in new Westminster for the upcoming few years, taking away a fully used gym is irresponsible when storage of equipment can be done many other places.
I am sure there is a lot better places to store equipment other than taking away space from people that use the space every day! Besides the equipment is going to be obsolete by the time the new Canada Games is built. Sell it off
I am truly disappointed and frustrated by the decision that city has come up with in regards to using the community ctr gym to house Canada's games equipment for usage. No consideration for the participants and instructors during a year of covid&flooding. We the community need a place for our mental health.
Keep the variety of classes going at Centennial PLEASE! Committed Weight room participants have found alternatives in the last 18 months. You’ve already killed NWFit spirit by 50%! Its time to revive- not decimate.
I enjoy the programs at the Community Centre I go 2 times per week.
Love these classes. No way all that equipment will fit anyway. Store it all somewhere else.

You need to keep the fitness classes going! I have been a participant for over 35 years! You can see how long by looking at our participation accounts
