I am very saddened by this. I can only hope, pray and sign this petition in hopes that my daughter will be able to take art classes.

Being Evanston Alumni and active in the music program throughout my elementary, middle and high school attendance, I feel very closely connected to this department. Growing up, I was the uncoordinated, goofy and horrible at math student. I struggled to find my place and comfort like most in public school systems. That was until I discovered the music program in Elementary school. From that moment on, I was hooked, I was accepted, I was encouraged and appreciated. The thought of a young child missing this opportunity is heartbreaking. Please reconsider the long-lasting effect of your decision and the outlet for creative minds.

I remember very vividly being in art class at Uinta meadows and it was amazing. Throughout my time of going to school in Evanston art classes are what helped me discover myself as an individual. Art is what people need to be introduced to in their young lives so they may discover their inner light. Please don't take that away from a child's developing mind.

Evanston's fine arts program is in fact the only reason I went to college, on a full ride scholarship mind you.

Art is an integral part of a child's learning! Not only does it help with skills in other areas such as math and science, but it teaches a child discipline, concentration/focus, fine motor skills, etc. There have been numerous studies showing the positive outcomes of art and music in schools at an early age. Do not take that away from children, especially as that is the only way that some can express themselves!

Every child should be allowed to express themselves, through art, especially at school.

I think it's important to educate the kids on art. The world now relies so much on technology but if we took that away & taught them art, it would help bring out their creativity & give them hands on experiences!!!

The Art Program is a vital part of our children's education. Making the decision to take it out of the schools would be one of the biggest mistakes made to date.

Don't take away what teaches a child to express them selves and to communicate with out the use of words. To tell stories and say things without having to use words. Children need art!
