Why would you cut the budget for the police when we have more crime then we ever have had. What happen to the council that was very strong on our police that they stood up for them. I grew up in this town and I felt safer then I do now. You need to higher more cops then less.

Ridiculous! My son got held up at gunpoint in front of our house on Eucalyptus Dr in November and we are cutting police officers?!! The word has gotten out to the wrong people and the crime is going to increase. We are being targeted. Scary.

I support El Segundo city employees and demand that the City Council (who didn't care enough about ES to come to the Neighborhood watch meeting in June) to STOP THE CUTS!

What price do you put on safety? Do the right thing and don't cut. Trim elsewhere. You can do it.

Not only do these cuts make the job harder to do and keep this city and its residents safe, but they also lower the moral of our officers.

I have grown up the entirety of my life in the beautiful and safe community of El Segundo. The Police and Fire Departments are outstanding and highly trained professionals. They work hard, train hard and keep our communities, businesses, residences and people safe and secure. It is simply why El Segundo has low crime, and is a desirous city to work, live, and play in. As a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and current Southern California Police Officer, I understand how critical and imperative public safety and service is to our people, and our beautiful town of El Segundo.

You cannot EVER pay too much for the safety and protection of your citizens.

Cut the Rose Bowl Parade. Cut the boards pensions. Cut travel by the board. Leave the Fireman, Policemen and the other city workers to do their job. You have 3 million in surplus. Do not touch emergency services, they are stretched too far. What are the statistics? I remember a few months ago there was a 700% increase in robberies or some type of crime. What are you thinking? You should be hiring not cutting back. How about your donate your time? Give your salary back to the city? And for our sake, watch the Rose Bowl from your own home and save us a quarter of a million dollars.

I think you can make cuts in other areas if you look hard enough. We need a fully staffed police Department

I hope the people of El Segundo realize what our City Leaders are trying to do to our city services. If they get their way, no one will want to work here.
