No-one with any knowledge or experience of caring for someone with dementia would ever, ever consider closing this wonderful Centre. The cost of closing The Wells Centre may save money, but it will cause so much distress and anxiety to the most vulnerable people in the area - many of whom can't voice their own concerns.

My elderly Mum goes to the centre for lunch & have a chat with friends on a regular basis, would be awful to take this meeting place away from our older Epsom residents.. !!!

I was 17 years as Wells resident and know the value of the Centre that is still a valuable part of the community especially for the young and the elderly. In a society where families are becoming increasingly fragmented and many people are isolated, a place where the community can meet in a friendly and social environment is essential to the well being of the Borough.

Disgusting closing the wells center it's all about money and politics
Councillors who made this decision will lose their seats next time round

Disgusting . Obviously the council were aproached by developers and could not resist a huge wad of cash ,it's so transparent. Yet more services shoved aside for greedy councillors

The Wells Centre is an important facility for that side of the borough, which is otherwise poorly served. It has been built not so long ago and has very appropriate and flexible facilities. Because of surrounding green-belt restrictions (SSSI/SNCI/Local Nature Reserve), once this land is lost it is not replaceable in the future when times get better and the council wishes to rebuild the borough's infrastructure for the community it serves. Rather than close it down, it should be looking at better ways of making good use of the
centre.

Why close a community centre which will deprive the local elderly and young of a much needed facility? Not only has the centre served these people well for about 20 years but when more homes are built on that site, there will be more people who will need the valuable services that the centre offers. It would be more sensible to build the homes on another site and leave the Wells Centre as it is to cater for the extra people.

This valuable resource must be saved for the community. The council is proud that it is RA so should be working for residents, not selling off assets.

The Wells Estate is already under-provided with shops etc - don't make the situation worse by closing the centre which does a good job.

Such a fantastic place that is able to hold so many wonderful functions. Without this the community will be missing out on a whole multitude of activities from parties to elderly people having social events.

The wells centre is a critical community life line for the wells estate for both young and old. Epsom is tragically lacking in community hubs and shutting another one down is a disaster

It is extremmely short signed to reduce services for people with dementia - this will just put pressure on other areas while reducing quality of life for sufferers and there famillies
