Planning should consider the needs of the community and not just be about commercials

Typical of local councils again cutting off the lifeline for local people

This centre is my nans lifeline, she is 93. Closing down this centre will remove her independence and isolate her from the world around her. PLEASE DONT CLOSE THE WELLS CENTRE!

The Wells is a real community, right in the middle of the common. It has one shop and no other community resources, just 500 or so houses in the middle of a big area of woodland, no pub nearby. Because of the isolation the community is strong and distinct, and the centre is an essential resource, it provides a playground, a place for religious services, for childrens' parties, for fairs and a preschool. It must not be closed.

It will cause difficulties for many in the local community in the wells and surrounding area if is centre closes. I recognise that the centre is expensive to run however with careful exploration of lowering room costs etc it's utilisation might be increased substantially and possibly made viable. I feel other options should be explored to prevent the closure of this centre. Relocation of services to the Longmeade centre would not support the local community as it would be difficult to access with both public transport and on foot, the meetings in street etc- all of which are important in sustaining the strong supportive community in the Wells estate itself. I am interested in the idea that the wells centre was run by the local community originally have support options to keep it open in the community been explored.

I am a volunteer at The Wells Centre, helping serve teas and coffee for the users of the centre. It is a brilliant place for the elderly to go, for social interaction and a good meal. All age groups use the centre, pre school to 90s + For locals to The Wells, to go anywhere else will incur a cost and I think they will not bother.

A community will be lost, my mother has lived in well way since they were built and the hut/centre is the hub for so many of the wells,RA ...a farce.

The NHS needs community centres like these desperately. They provide the opportunity to exercise, socialise and eat well.

This is a local centre serving multiple needs in a somewhat isolated estate, where to be frank the frequency of the bus service is awful. It makes no sense to have spent the money in the first place only to now close it. It as useful today as it is ever was. Is there anyway as residents we can call for a vote of no confidence in the council, and fresh elections.

The Well's because of it location is a community and needs to have centre where residents of all ages can enjoy the much needed facilities and especially the children's play area which is indispensable.
