Please don't build a major six Lane road thru Emerald Forest. You will destroy our neighborhood.

Save old established neighborhoods in this community.

I feel this extension would be detrimental to an already established and beautiful neighborhood. I urge the city council to look at Rock Prairie Rd/ Bird Pond Rd as a viable option. This area is already expanding, especially with a major trauma certified hospital. Rock Prairie is already going to be a major road, why not extend it?

The 2818 extension will destroy a beautiful and long-established neighborhood.

This is a quite neighborhood and I'd like to keep it that way, and a huge highway running through it will not keep it quite.

I am opposed to the proposed route for expanding FM 2818. This is a terrible idea to run a major highway through the middle of this quiet subdivision. Please find a better route.

This expansion of Emerald Parkway is the worst possible suggestion ever. The mere speed of patrons that travel 2818 should stop any consideration of this expansion whatsoever! Surely, there is an alternate solution that will not destroy and decrease value in this beautiful neighborhood. And I live in Raintree subdivision and think this is a horrific idea.

I am against the proposed extension or expansion of Emerald Parkway or any other consideration that would damage the integrity of this subdivision.

I’m writing to petition that you STOP all plans to run 2818 through the Emerald Forest subdivision. Emerald Forest is one of the few prestigious neighborhoods left in north College Station and we have fought hard to maintain the neighborhood’s reputation, family-friendly atmosphere, quiet and peaceful atmosphere. To run a massive highway through this beautiful neighborhood is irresponsible and is an insult to the 450 homeowners who pay taxes for this city AND vote. I’ve lived in College Station my entire life. I graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1995 and proceed to A&M where I graduated in August of 2000. I met my husband while in college and at first thought we’d move to Houston, where he was from, to start our life. However after much discussion we agreed that College Station was the perfect city to stay and raise a family. So we’ve been here ever since and are raising our two daughters. Growing up here, I’ve seen neighborhood after neighborhood DESTROYED by college students and the city’s continuous, and every growing, lack of concern regarding neighborhood integrity. Drive around Southwood Valley, Carter’s Creek and Raintree for starters. When we were looking to buy our most recent home, we were very concerned about finding a neighborhood that would fight to keep this from happening again and that’s when we found Emerald Forest. If you drive through Emerald Forest, you’ll find that the first phase of this neighborhood is just as pretty and maintained as the newer phases. This is thanks to a great HOA who knows the value of this neighborhood and strives to maintain it. Yet here we are debating the idea of putting a HIGHWAY right down the middle of this beautiful neighborhood. You will absolutely destroy this neighborhood if you continue with this ridiculous notion. You will completely divide the children and families and eliminate the family oriented value that we put importance in. Something I believe several of you spouted concern wit

What a horrible idea! William Fitch is the perfect road to extend out all the way. College Station is moving in that direction.

We moved into this neighborhood about three years ago due to its proximity to the university and city and its cohesiveness and tranquility as a safe neighborhood. Any divisive highway will doom property values, including the significant amount of property and school taxes we pay. Re-route through Bird Pond Road or William Fitch or elsewhere. I have a degree in Urban Affairs and this proposal makes no sense. It is economically unfeasible because of the geology/flood plain aspects, property devaluation, and overall aesthetic appeal of this beautiful neighborhood.

We have lived in Emerald Forest for over 14 years. Our children have grown up playing in our very safe neighborhood and have had the opportunity to enjoy a neighborhood experience that is uncommon today. We also have a diversity of residents in our neighborhood that I believe is unlike any other CS subdivision. It is very common in the back part of our neighborhood to see deer and other wildlife that would also be effected. We live on the south side so this proposal would divide our section off and separate us from our neighborhood pool, clubhouse, and park as well as inhibit residents of all ages from crossing Emerald Parkway like many do daily for recreation and exercise. I am very opposed to this idea and cant imagine why this proposal has made it this far! By continuing on this path, you are destroying our neighborhood and creating further disparity within the CSISD school systems. You would be disrupting the livelyhood of families in this neighborhood who also currently support and attend Title 1 schools in CSISD. What a terrible, terrible idea! There are already throughfairs to Highway 30 that are not being adequately maintained that could serve the same purpose if expanded. Please do not destroy our neighborhood!!

I don't understand the logic in any of this? Why would anyone think that going thru an established neighborhood would be a good idea? This is a dangerous idea to all of us living here, those of us who have been here for awhile will lose the value of our homes and those who are new will never be able to sell. This needs to be taken off the table as an option immediately!!!

By including the option of a 2818-Emerald Parkway extension through Emerald Forest to Hwy. 30, the Bryan-College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization 2050 Thoroughfare Plan has the potential to negatively impact and cause serious harm to homeowners and residents of Emerald Forest and adjacent neighborhoods. Decisions on this issue should be made with the understanding that Emerald Forest homeowners and residents, immediately and in the long term, are facing real consequences that involve reduction of property values; actual physical damage and destruction to property; and the degradation of the physical integrity of a stable, unified subdivision. The Board of Directors of the Emerald Forest Homeowners Association is obligated to represent the interests of its members and will consider all alternatives and options to protect those interests. The HOA Board requests that the BCS MPO 2050 MPO Thoroughfare Plan be amended by deleting the option known as the 2818-Emerald Forest extension and recommends the ‘2818 to Wellborn Rd. and east on Fitch to Hwy. 30’ route as the most appropriate, most cost-beneficial, and most feasible option. /s/ - John Woods, President Emerald Forest HOA

We love our neighborhood as is and are opposed to intrusion by a major highway development disrupting our way of life.
