I'm appalled that Arlington are trying to renege on their agreement. The Council must do their job and enforce s106 and ensure the country park is preserved for future generations. There are plenty of brown field sites left to build on and ones which won't contaminate the environment with Bromate at the same time. This is the only truly wild space for Hatfield residents and we cannot allow this unique area to be destroyed because Arlington wish to cash in on their broken promises and the council fail to hold them to their word.

An agreement being broken.. I walk this area regulary with my children and dog. This is the only wildlife, wetlands and natural shrubbery area left in Hatfield. I believed it to be a protected flood plain area and the possibility of water contamination if disturbed?? A disgrace.

A wild, natural landscape, a welcome sanctuary for adults and kids alike, unspoilt and unique. This land was promised to the community and this promise should be honoured. Quarrying here would be an act of environmental and social vandalism.

I run here all through the spring to the Autumn. It is the only green area in Hatfield where I can do this without car pollution. It frees my mind from the busy noisy commercialized life we live in and makes you feel closer to nature and the countryside. I would be devastated if this are was developed. This site was promised to the community. I would want my children to have access to this beautiful area.

We should be keeping our word and not going back on what was promised in the s 106 agreement. The area should be made into a country park as promised.

Unimproved grass and scrub is now a very rare habitat in South Hertfordshire. There will be serious impacts on both flora and avifauna if it's developed.

It is important from a point of principle and from the perspective of sustainable development that the proposal to quarry Ellenbrook Fields is thrown out.
The proposal ignores previous section 106 agreements and that must now be rectified. HCC can not be seen to run roughshod over the law.
It is also a proposal locked into 20th century thinking that it is reasonable to keep extracting building materials with no negative consequence to the future. We’re now in the 21st century, desperately trying to reverse many previous mistakes and create circular economies where disused building materials are recycled into new buildings. Contemplating digging up an environmental asset like Ellenbrook Fields beggars belief, and can only be driven by greed and/or ignorance.

SADC and WHBC should enforce the s106 agreement to set up a trust for the park enabling their support against developing and quarrying. The park was gifted to the people if Hatfield but should remain that way

Please do not build more houses on this beautiful area of land. Many animals will lose their homes, local people will have less outdoor space to enjoy and I can imagine the traffic along Hatfield Road will become a real pain.

The legal agreement s106 that was to create the Ellenbrook Country Park MUST be implemented BEFORE any decisions regarding housing and quarrying on the site can be agreed. If legal agreements can be blatantly flouted then what is the purpose of law in this country? What kind of message are you sending to the people of this country by ignoring a legal agreement? Can people simply decide to ignore legal agreements with the Herts County Council and, for example, stop paying Council Tax? Is this a case of one rule for you and other for everyone else?
