Aftercare was a huge part of my school experience. It is so special to the kids that get to be a part of it. The teachers are the sweetest people and have a special place in my heart.

I'm a parent who is privileged to care for my child full-time. Many families in the district do not and I've been made aware of the Extended Care Program's value to them. I believe that the district and community should do all it can to support working families with quality and affordable care for their school kids.

Withdrawal of Edwin Pratt's before and after school care will cause a ripple effect of harm not only on the families it serves directly but extending our into the greater community. Shoreline should be a city that proudly offers support to working families. Please continue this extremely important service to our community.

With the current cost of living in Shoreline and the greater Seattle area, most families rely on dual incomes to provide for our families. There is already a dearth of good extended care options for the kids in Shoreline School District. Edwin Pratt is the only one that adequately services Ridgecrest, where our child goes, and it would be an incredible hardship on so many families, both those with dual and single caregivers, if it were taken away.

I believe in this wholeheartedly, we need before and after school care. It has not been easy figuring out the logistics with work and pick up at 3:10 Mon,Tue, Th, Fri and 1:30 on Wednesdays. Please help us!

Edwin Pratt programming is essential to my family. As a working mother, the loss of aftercare programming has the potential to set back my career development and earning potential, impacting my family's ability to stay in Shoreline. Seattle-Shoreline parents have to fight for so much nowadays and to lose a partner like Edwin Pratt in our children's education is a loss that will be felt across the community, intergenerationally, and throughout our child's development. Let's work hard for our kids, not work cheaper and easier. We want to make this work with you!

Our family has two working parents and before and aftercare are extremely important to us as we cannot just drop work once school ends. The ease and convenience of having the program at our local school with caregivers we trust is not easily replaced. My partner and I breathed a sigh of relief when we found out we made it into the aftercare program after months of stress and anxiety wondering what we would do with our child if we didn’t get into the program.

There are extremely limited options for before and after school care in Shoreline. As a single mom that absolutely has to work to ensure the wellbeing of my child and myself, I implore you to keep the program open. Closing down the before and after school program will be devastating.

My wife and I both work full time and are reliant upon the extended care offered by Edwin Pratt. As with many families, we would be put in a very difficult position were Edwin Pratt's extended care to cease to be an option.

I work full time and rely on before and after care. My kids love it and the staff is amazing. And it meets a need many families have.

I have a daughter in the program now and our second child will need it in 2 years. There are NO OTHER OPTIONS, trust me, I have spent countless hours looking for one (before we got in the district program). If this program is cut we are lost.

As a staff member with a child in the district this program is essential for me and my family. Keeps me in the classroom longer. Please keep this program.

We would be lost without the extended care program at Briarcrest. As a healthcare worker I depend on this care so I can fulfill my job duties. I also feel that no other care provider can replace the current staff at extended care. They love all the kids as if they were their own, and have committed to engaging families and creating a really amazing community. This is honestly one of the the items I hold in high regard that I believe makes shoreline school better than other school district.

How about we pay for the school system for our youth and we take back all the wasted money on homelessness and drug abuse that hasn’t and won’t be solved…

We are so lucky to have a district run extended care program!
