The district has officially rescinded the merger proposal and East Bay Arts will remain open. I am deeply grateful for the dedication shown by this community in protecting our home. Please remain attentive as we transition back to our regular academic operations.

There is a proposal to shut down East Bay Arts, due to low student numbers, and have them merge with the students from the small-learning community 'Green Engineering an Technology' (which would also be shut down) at San Lorenzo High to form a new small-learning community at San Lorenzo High called 'STEAM Academy'.

We need the help of students, families, and the community in order to save this wonderful school.

This school has given people so much: a place of support, a place to truly express themselves, and also a place they can call "home". This petition will show how many people have been affected by this school, and also how many people will not just sit and watch our school be taken from us.

We may be small.. But we are strong.

If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to contact us in #SAVEEBA on Kik thanks goodbye!

The administration continues to review the proposal to merge our programs into the new academy. I have received many personal notes regarding the importance of the arts community to our students and their futures. We are organizing our next steps to ensure our presence remains clear during these deliberations.

The response to this campaign has been truly impressive and underscores the profound impact that our school has had on so many lives. This momentum shows that our community is united in the effort to preserve this home for our students.

I have always thought this school would be a great place for my son in the distant future.. he is only 3 now and at this rate will will miss out on it. Save the school! There are people out there who are interested in what this school has to offer that is so different than the general high schools in this area.

Getting rid of EBA and merging it with GET does NOT make sense. EBA is for the arts amd has NO relation to SLz's GET slc. Our district needs to stop equating students to money; they need to care about their students and their education.

Please do not close EBA. My daughter graduated class of 2015. For 4 years she made the commitment of commuting from Tracy. My youngest daughter is planning to attend next year and make the same commitment. EBA is where dreams come true.

I really hope this school isn't closed down because if it is then all that's going to result from its closure is thr elimination of an environment that allows students of color to flourish and feed their minds.

My nephew grew as a person and an artist at EBA.He now attends a university in music and the arts. Please, kids need this school. Music and art help kids heal and grow and gives them something to believe in! Please don't take EBA away.

Today I am asking you to reconsider your position for East Bay Arts High School As a parent from Oakland School for the Arts, seeing my son can learn, grow and express himself over the last 6 years has been nothing short of amazing. He has grown leaps and bounds in visual and digital art as well as in his college prep classes It has also taken OSA 10 years to become the great school that it is today. It took hard work from the administrators, teachers and especially the parents working together to make it the great success it is today. I tell you all of this because I would be a great shame if you give up on this East Bay Arts High School before it’s even had a chance to really make an impact on the community. Think of the students. Trust me when I say that having a school like this where students and express themselves using the talents that God have them, makes for happier students. When you have happier students they are more inclined to learn and do better academically. Yours Truly, Angela Machen Pinole CA

This school is a wonderful place for fostering creativity and talent. It would be a shame for future students to lose out on the kind of opportinities the school provides.
