Please keep track as it is. There is no significant cost to relaying track as it is now even if a truncated service is offered. Without the full track the options and viability of the service is significantly limited.

There is no benefit to traffic movement in removing the horsetram tracks South of Broadway - the tracks are a shared roadspace and no additional roadspace will be gained by their removal, nor will traffic flow be improved as the largest disruption to traffic movement is not the passage of horsetrams but the pulling in and out of cars using the parking spaces.....

A very important and iconic feature of the Douglas Promenade scene. It would be tragic, if not criminal, to do away with a quarter of the route from the Sea Terminal to Broadway; not only causing inconvenience to passengers coming in off the ferry, but extending the walking time to and from the steam railway station. Tynwald got it right by taking on the horse trams earlier in 2016, and I would hope they will continue to do right by it and listen to the concerns of those who support the service in it's hour of need.

Leave the horse trams alone! The U.K. Doesn't need another empty boarded up seaside resort with no attractions

This is a wholly new attack on the horse tramway.
The present Minister responsible who said before he was elected that he wanted a full length horse tramway (and indeed voted against an almost identical proposal which was put to Tynwald (following a debate) earlier this year) has changed his mind and lent his support to a scheme from within his Department to;
1. Scrap the tracks from a point just South of the Broadway and not replace them.
2. Renew the tracks to the North as part of a "Light Rail/ MER' scheme running horse trams on an occasional basis on the same route.
To get this done (and to follow through another scheme to abandon and sell off the present, unique stables, still owned by Douglas) there will have to be a number of planning applications for development within the Douglas Promenade Conservation Area.
This will not be easy because of a decision of an independent Planning Inspector in an earlier planning inquiry to the effect that the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway is integral to the Conservation Area. The purpose of this petition is to obtain maximum public objection from all over the World. Help us stop this folly!
