As a community member who has frequented the Mercado since day 1, I absolutely love what the folks at Don Bigote have created and would be very sad to see them have to move. The Mercado should be doing more to showcase this gem.

Not renewing the Licensing agreement with Don Bigote Churros goes against Hacienda CDC (Portland Mercado's) core mission statement! In fact it is causing great irreparable harm to a local Latino family owned business. Mission Statement: "Hacienda CDC is a Latino Community Development Corporation that strengthens families by providing affordable housing, homeownership support, economic advancement and educational opportunities." You can't in one hand proclaim to raise up the Latino community, while in the other crushing dreams and sending Latino families into financial ruin.
