Luckily I got the database downloaded and already working on a script to read it out just like the one on dndtools (not sure if they use an opensource cms). I really dont get why they are closing it down. Also why the hell are they so obsessed chasing an edition they refuse to make money from anyway. Lets hope democracy prevails, otherwise we have lost.

Great site for loyal players and it only helps to increase interest in the WotC brand. Shutting it down would be awful, not only for players but also for your company.

Please keep D&D tools running. Failure t o rescind your cease and desist will mean losing me as a customer for both D&D Next and MTG

This isn't even a cash grab by wotc, since the majority of the content on the site isn't even in print anymore. This is nothing but petty behavior. It would be in their better interest to find a way to capitalize on the site rather than outright remove it.

It's rather hypocritical to shut down a reference tool while the full texts are avaliable illegally online.

This petition is not going to influence the legal department of WotC/Hasbro, which is completely separate from the people that actually produce the content. The legal department gives 0 fucks, and will pursue the situation relentlessly if the Cease and Desist is not followed.

If enough people sign it, rather than just slapping a cease and desist on Dndtools, they might offer something in response. WotC has pretty much stopped all 3rd edition support, and Dndtools offered people the chance to continue playing the edition they know and love and didn't force everyone to move on to a competitor product, Pathfinder.
Do the world a favor, keep negativity to yourself. Facts are facts
DnD tools referenced public information & gave credit due where it belonged. Legal
DnD tools referenced portions of information, not entire books. Legal
DnD tools promoted, at no charge, WotC products. Legal
In summary, WotC is merely throwing their weight around because they know sites like this don't have the financial capability to take them to court. End of story. This is merely a large company bullying a smaller locale (since I can't really call DnD Tools a business)
I support DnD Tools 100%. I used them as basic & quick reference. ANYTIME I found something of use, I immediately went to the book. Having a source to organize over 100 books for me was incredible & of all the DnD sites out there, this is the only one I will fight for
