Save Derby's Community Centres
Derby City Council plan to cut £130,000 in support for Community Centres. Many of Derby's Community Centres rely on support both financial and from their 'Community Centre Liaison Officers', support that will be withdrawn.
Derby City Council's 2010/11 Budget consultation document (see link to the right) highlight on page 202 that:
'Without ongoing support some centres under community management may encounter problems at an operational level. This could make them unavailable to local groups (loss of amenity) and other agencies, such as the Youth Service, Police, etc'.
Many of Derby's Community Centres will struggle to operate without support from the Council's 'liaison team' with both financial and valuable human resources being cut. Some Centres may be forced to close and be lost forever.
Please support Derby's Community Centres by signing this petition opposing the cutting of £130,000 in Community Centre support.
Your support is gratefully received.
Many thanks
