Over the past years, immigration has been at its highest and it continues to increase today. In 2010, the nation's immigrant population was 40 million. It has more than quadrupled in numbers since 1970 when it was 9.7 millionImmigration is a topic in which includes multiple opinions, whether they are good or bad. As of right now DACA and the Diversity Visa Lottery Program are being discussed into being removed. DACA is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. It allows certain people who came to the United States as children and meet several guidelines may request consideration of deferred action for a period of two years. It was first announced in 2015 under the former President Barack Obama. The Diversity Visa Lottery Program through the Immigration Act of 1990, was set in order to promote immigration from countries underrepresented in the United States. Only certain countries fall under the criteria that needs to be met in order to be granted a visa. Nations of low-admission countries, defined as any country with fewer than 50,000 natives admitted to the United States in the previous five years. Many individuals, including the current President Donald Trump, believe that terrorist attacks that have occurred have the Diversity Visa Lottery Program to blame. He has proposed a bill to rid of this program. These programs have never been able to show evidence that it is the main lead to terrorism. The programs should be kept in place because instead of terrorist attacks, it has lead to the benefits towards the nation as it promotes cultural diversity in school and work, opportunities for everyone to be free, and in economical increase. Please help to keep these programs set in place so that our society can be kept at balance!
