I grew up on St Martin's Estate up the road from Cressingham Gardens. My Mum still lives there. We need council homes to survive in London and to be repaired by the councils and housing trusts who own them. I understand many councils have huge shortfalls in funding due to austerity cuts and so by selling off land and council homes to developers to rebuild and regenerate they see as a way of recouping some of the money. However, they need to see they are contributing to the social cleansing and destruction of London as a socially diverse city. I wholly support your campaign and hope that someone with an ounce of social conscience in Lambeth Council may help the cause.

Each time I go past the estate I think how lucky the people are who live there. The council should stop making short-sighted decisions based on cost-cutting. It seems totally irrational and depressing that this is even being considered when it seems to me like the ideal place to live - historic design, aesthetic and functional architecture, green, low-rise, community and people-focussed.

If more city estates were like this one, London would be a better place. Keep fighting for it!

This estate has architectural value, it should not be bulldozed to make way for another anonymous development. Council fulfil your obligations and make repairs.

Beautiful film- why don't you contact all the architecture departments in Lindon Universities and ask them to make Live Projects on the estate. Particularly the issue of Voids and repairs- the whole notion of a community enterprise company to purchase the estate and re-include the voids?
