Stop the thoughtless dissolution of successful, well designed council estates we should be proud of!

This estate is historic and a its low-rise structure has contributed to the emergence of a warm, friendly community. Not only would its demolition be wholly unjust and a disaster for many of the residents currently living there, it would be removing a vibrant community that has helped change the perceptions people hold of Lambeth and its residents.

I am a leaseholder in this estate. I love living here and buying a flat here was a once in a lifetime financial opportunity. The threat of being issued a compulsory purchase order would completely ruin my whole financial, emotional and social situation. The estate has fallen into disrepair due to the incapability of Lambeth council to maintain their estate and residents should not be punished because of this.

This is a great, historic estate that needs to be listed, not knocked down. It sits perfectly on the edge of Borckwell Park. A new development would destroy an amazingly thought out estate with people at the forefront and would create new built high rises that would not be anywhere close to the building standards the architect of this estate, Ted Hollamby, implemented. This estate needs to serve as an example on how to make great social housing and I suspect that these dwellings were built to a higher standard than most private, new builds are today.

I am lucky enough to live in a Hollamby house in Lambeth. He was a fantastic architect, putting people at the heart of his designs. He worked for the council for many years and is behind many wonderful buildings in the borough. Hollamby is 20th century hero who committed much of his life to the people of the borough and Lambeth Council should recognise him as such. His work should be cherished and kept for future generations not destroyed by shortsighted current market conditions and rapacious development. Everytime I walk past the estate I think how wonderful it is there and available to such a diverse range of people. The spirit of Hollamby seems to live on in the residents of Cressingham. Lambeth Council wake up - just because it's not Victorian/Edwardian doesn't mean it's not our heritage. Save Cressingham Gardens for all of us.
