The government officially reversed the funding cuts to our Community Employment Schemes today. This victory belongs to everyone who refused to back down when the future of these jobs was on the line. Stay alert and keep monitoring local budgets to ensure they never try to raid these essential services …
The Irish Government has decided to cut the Training and Materials Grant for Community Employment Schemes from €1500 to €500.
This cut will lead to many of the incredibly valuable C.E. schemes that are keeping this country going being unable to continue and any staff on these schemes will be unable to recieve valuable training that may lead to jobs that will put money back into the economy.
Over 22,000 people throughout Ireland are employed on C.E. schemes and the loss of even one will reduce services throughout Ireland that will need to be funded in another way, the upkeep of many communities are dependant on C.E. schemes, PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION! If we get 100,000 signatures the government must debate this issue this has worked in other countries lets make it work here!!!
We just hit 1,000 signatures. Message your local TD today and tell them clearly that these community schemes are non-negotiable.

What are they thinking? Cutting training means no jobs. Then they complain about people on the dole. Fix it.

These schemes are the only thing keeping our local park clean. €500 is a joke for materials. Do the math.

This is ridiculous. CE workers are the backbone of our village. Total lack of respect for people trying to better themselves.

My local centre is gonna have to close if this goes through. They do so much work for the elderly, absolute disgrace.
