Colossus holds the magic at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Demolishing it will hurt the park's soul and deny many Californians from ever experiencing the fabulous rickety thrill ~ and ~ plunge of a classic wooden roller coaster. Plus, Six Flags would look totally weird & totally average without Colussus' structure and fresh white paint. It's the welcoming granddad my family always looks for and the cross-demo ride everybody can agree on. High school Physics Day certainly wouldn't be the same without it. And, however small, it's a piece of Hollywood history too. This stupidity of the moment is just going to hurt the park's legacy down the line. Look at the trends according to the LA Times. . . . 'Step By Step' the wooden roller coaster is here to stay! So come on Six Flags—don't make Tweety Bird cry!

http://www.savecolossus.com This is amusement park sacrilege! I would like to know what genius high up in the decision making of Magic Mountain decided on tearing down the heart and soul of the park? I've been going to Magic Mountain since I was in diapers in the 70's. I can tell you that with all the changes over the years and rides come and gone, the one ride that enabled Magic Mountain to find it's identity and maintained its reputation over the years as historically the place to go for thrill rides is Colossus. Magic Mountain is not Magic Mountain without this ride. You are making a huge mistake. One you will surely come to regret. You must work to stop this. We will work to stop this! There must be a way. There is a movement to have this ride declared as a historical landmark and qualify for State funds through tax breaks. It more than meets the criteria and just needs a little more time for the process that's already started to be completed. There are petitions to sign. There is work being done to help whoever made this decision see the error of their ways and to see why the majority of people when asked about this believe taking down this ride goes against what makes for a an experience that is historic and coherent with what we have come to expect from our beloved amusement park and this beautiful ride. There is nothing like it around here, nothing like it historically and nothing like it as a similar experience in the park. You must find another way to achieve your goals without destroying this ride. If people are reading this, please get involved now by signing the petition, contacting the appropriate local politicians and calling Magic Mountain to let them know how we feel. In 2010, I travelled from the UK to visit friends in LA. During my two week holiday, I visited Magic Moutain & rode Collosus several times. It is possibly the greatest wooden roller coaster in the World & should be protected / preserved as part of the history of the park & theme parks / roller coasters in general.
