JROTC, is a program at Lenape that benefits everyone, from the students in it, to the students out of it, to teachers, and the community itself. Sgt. Gantt was instrumental in building a program like this, and for sure does not deserve what he is getting. Col. Alvarado, although new, had many plans to make this program, in all its greatness, so much better. He most certainly does not deserve anything like this. Bring back our Col. And Sgt!!!!!!!!!!

JROTC changed my life and helped me become the man I am today. Without JROTC I wouldn't be where I am today preparing to leave for the Navy. SFC Ghant and Lt Colonel Sherrer (now retired) were great influences and teachers. Although I do not know the new Colonel, I can see the effect he's had on this program in his short time being here by talking with current cadets. We can not get rid of this great program simply because of the mistakes of few. The needs of the many exceed the needs of the few!

As a former AFJROTC cadet, I am fully aware of the impact a JROTC instructor makes in the lives of their cadets. It is unfair to punish all of these cadets for the horseplay of 2 students. Who would the school belame if these students injured themselves in the parking lot before or after school started? They'd belame the students for their own choices and decisions. Why is it any different now?

I may not know Colonel Alvarado but I do know SFC Gantt and he would never allow what had happened if it were to happen in front of him, but no one can watch every cadets actions that happens. Its nearly impossible. Its like any other club or sport. You just cant watch that many kids at once especially if theyre at different locations.

JROTC has changed my life completely around. In middle school I was the kid that was always in trouble but when I came to Lenape JROTC program I became a whole different person

I agree with Mr. Shields. The cadets will have learned their lessons over time. I believe that the Colonel and Sergeant are so incredibly integral in the learning of those lessons. These are two well-accomplished of our military who have a proven track record of responsibility and the distinction of leading hundreds if not thousands of young people to success. Please allow them to continue to do their jobs. They are sorely missed and the overall program is being impacted. Thank you!

Lenape is lucky to have a program like JROTC, especially with teachers as impactful and extraordinary as Colonel Alvarado and Sergeant Gantt. So many graduates, and even students today, would not have had their successes had it not been for Sergeant, and even though he has only been here for a few months, Colonel has been shaping all of us into better cadets and citizens already. Losing them would be like losing a family member, like it was when Colonel Sherrer retired. Relieving them of their positions would not only hurt the cadets in the program now, but it would also deprive future cadets from the priceless lessons they have taught us. They deserve to come back; this incident was not their doing, and the consequences inflicted thus far are unjust towards these outstanding teachers.

Lenape's JROTC program was instrumental in helping me grow not only as a leader, but as a man so I could become successful and ready for anything in the real world. SFC Gantt has been a role model to me ever since I joined the program my freshman year of high school because of his resiliency, respect, humor, work ethic, and positive attitude. Although Mr. Alvarado is new, I've met him before for a drill competition and he was extremely respectful. When I ran into a problem at this event, I contacted him and he puts my needs as one of his priorities and met my request immediately. These men put the needs of their students before their own as their selfless service has been abundant and unmatched by anyone I've ever met.

Enlisted in the United States Air Force and currently transferring into army infantry. Prior student class of 2012. Was in the jrotc program. This program has done nothing but shape young students and motivate them to become better citizens. Hold the students accountable not the program leaders. There are just some bad students in the school.

I feel it is unjust to completely dismantle what me and my fellow cadets have created in the JROTC program over an immature act. Colonel and SFC Gant has worked so hard with this program and deserve a second shot. I'm asking you as a former cadet and student at Lenape high school not to dismantle this program that I have watched develope since I was 7 years old when my older brother Thom was a cadet.

The Junior ROTC program is a career building class which gives these young people a sense of belonging. It teaches them leadership and respect. And I feel that the regular teachers who know the young people well would be best.

Sergeant Gantt would never tolerate something like this. Part of the program is responsibility and it is understood that if you are alone you are supposed to conduct yourself if as if a leader is in the room. This is unacceptable and the students should be punished, not the Sergeant and Colonel

JROTC has done nothing but enhance my life. SFC Gantt and COL Alvarado are my biggest support systems in high school. They help with my academics, my personal life and they help me enhance and excel in my leadership abilities. They have taught me about always being the best I can be and they have pushed me to get there. With COL Alvarado being new, SFC Gantt has always been a fatherly figure to me and COL Alvarado is my new teacher and mentor. Taking away my support system at Lenape makes it very hard to get through my day.
