The school has said that the program will cost $115,000 per year, however they are unwilling to fund the club on a year to year basis and need 2.5 million dollars by June 2016 to fund Colby Rugby indefinitely.

How is it productive to eliminate a program that provides so much value in developing people for life? Rugby does not generate a lot of revenue upfront but the costs also are minimal compared to other collegiate sports programs. The value to the college is benefiting from alumni loyalty and donations later. Something to consider in place of being shortsighted. Rugby people are passionate about their sport, team, and culture.

Please provide the cost needed to continue your Rugby program. Rugby Alumni of the whole NESCAC and New England circuit will raise the funds to maintain your program.

Being a rugby coach I think this would be a big mistake to shut down this program and it will cripple all around rugby in Maine! Think about this decision!

As a rugby player in Colorado, I believe the game is fantastic and teams should not be shut down all because there is contact.

Saddened to hear about administrations plan to end rugby at Colby. As an alumni and former athlete at Colby I support all sports including rugby. Citing costs and injuries as the reason my immediate reaction is - couldn't they consider reorganization and restructuring. Hope they will open up discussions and consider options before they just pull the plug

As a junior at union college where rugby is an integral part of campus life this policy is silly and detrimental in my eyes. It limits opportunity and development of students.
