My family fought to build this school 50 years ago when the schools on Coker Creek were consolidated. My children have gone through this school along with most of my grandchildren and now my great grand children. People off of this mountain have always put our kids and our school down. I think it is time that someone looked at the facts and realized the kids of productive citizens that have come from this small community school. Did you realize that we have NASA employees, lawyers, teachers, nurses and just plain old good hard working people. My list could go on and on. Are there any other schools in Monroe County that get as many donations or community support as our school?

i have 2 nieces at this school. Great test scores and a safe place with great athletics. This school is necessary for the community. The thriving children and excellent education are priority.

Just FYI. it is totally against the law for school board members to have "private" meetings or discussions amongst themselves... It's called The Sunshine Law..

I have two girls that go to this school. We are new to the area but I went to a school which was small and there were not many kids in each classroom and that is what I wanted for my girls and I found that at Coker Creek School. It really makes a difference. They just love the teachers and faculty there. Closing Coker Creek would be heartbreaking to us.

I went to this school from 3rd Grade to 8th Grade. These teachers at Coker Creek Elementary School are great teachers and influences on these young children. If this school gets shut down, not only are you forcing the teachers to quit, but you are also forcing the kids to move to a new place, and have to adapt to new environments. A sudden change of environment can have a negative effect on a child. Trust me, I would know!

Children should have a school system close to their home. They certainly shouldn't be forced to travel greater distances to go to a school that doesn't perform as well. While I don't have children in the system, the decision to close the school would prevent me from ever moving to the area.

It's going to take a lot of jobs and increase uneployment rate. Also, the families would have to drive farther for jobs.

i have some pretty great friends that live in this community. not only would the children be devistated but there would be many out of a job. dont take away something that means so much to people. leave things alone and let thwm be just because it doesnt have a big name to some people its a big name to them. if you want change maybe you should start with our government. just sayin. may God bless yall. definately in my prayers

I attended this school and I have great nephews attending it now. I feel like I got a quality education then and it has been proven to givr children quality educations for decades. This school should always remain.open gor the sake of our children and community. Don't tear doen.something that works just because it's small. Help it grow!!! Isn't that the point of education?
