Our school system is proposing to make devastating cuts to our school. The cuts they are trying to make will influence parents decisions about taking their children to our school. Several school board members have talked privately about closing our school. The reason they give to close our school is all about money. They acknowledge Coker Creek is a great performing school. Our school was given a 4 out of 5 by the state. Monroe County is rated a 1 overall. Instead of trying to help our school increase our attendance they propose cuts to decrease our attendance. If our attendance drops below 100 the school board members could propose the closure. We must have programs at Coker Creek School that other schools have in order to attract parents to enroll their children to our school.
