The school board has officially voted to preserve our programs and keep the doors of Coker Creek School open. This outcome confirms that our community values quality education over simple budget arithmetic. We will continue to monitor the upcoming allocation process to ensure these commitments remain firm.
Our school system is proposing to make devastating cuts to our school. The cuts they are trying to make will influence parents decisions about taking their children to our school. Several school board members have talked privately about closing our school. The reason they give to close our school is all about money. They acknowledge Coker Creek is a great performing school. Our school was given a 4 out of 5 by the state. Monroe County is rated a 1 overall. Instead of trying to help our school increase our attendance they propose cuts to decrease our attendance. If our attendance drops below 100 the school board members could propose the closure. We must have programs at Coker Creek School that other schools have in order to attract parents to enroll their children to our school.
My children need the one on one time they get at Coker Creek and i feel like they wouldn't get that at a bigger school because the teachers wouldn't have the time.My kids love coker creek school and they do not want to have to go anywhere else.

My grandchildren, nieces and nephews are students at Coker Creek School. Transporting children farther and preparing additional space for them at another school will be at a cost to taxpayers and voters. Wonder what the true agenda for closing this school may be?

The individual attention I received when I attended Coker Creek Elementary gave me the abilities to be successful in future endeavors. The loss of the school would be a tremendous blow to the community and future decisions of people to continue to live there.

Please don't close Coker Creek Elementary School. We need a school in this rural "Bedroom Community" Don't make these children have to be bussed miles and miles away. We also don't need to crowd the classrooms any more than they already are.

I have four children, three of which are in school at Coker Creek. We have a wonderful school, which is a big part of our community. our teachers care about our children and are very dedicated. This is apparent in that we have only six full-time teC

This school needs to stay open! Why does every other school in Monroe County get to keep their PE, Library, and Art and CCES doesn't. That is not fair at all. Shutting down Coker Creek will not help the budget. There are cuts elsewhere that need to be made.
