The mayor and city manager attempted to move this project forward while bypassing proper procedure. Meanwhile neither of them even lives in Clarkston. We must put a stop to this until residents decide whether this project us a fit for the city.

The citizens deserved better than they’ve gotten thus far on this project (for instance, complying with the law on what was represented as the first conditional use permit and transparency so that the Church didn’t get the impression that its proposed planned use development would be welcomed or smooth sailing).
I am signing to demand that the law that is intended to ensure consistency with the citizens’ future plan for their City is followed.

We need to do all we can to prevent this from happening.
The Southern Baptist Convention sole reason for doing anything is to convert people to their brand of Christianity.
Clarkston is a diverse community and should be kept that way. No one group should be allowed to dominate religious and the social community.

Hill St should be used for cyclists to park their cars when they go cycling down the Path. There is no other suitable place in the city. Hill st must NOT be abandoned!
This whole project is way out of scale for Clarkston. And very harmful to the neighborhood.

The developing Clarkston story has been lifted up as hopeful counter-narrative to this troubling era of divisiveness fueled by organizations like the Southern Baptist Convention and The North American Missionary Board. We are a strong, organized community that can mobilize quickly to circumvent organizations that pose a threat to the ideals that have drawn the world's attention to our community. In a time when our Attorney General is convening a "Religious Liberty Task Force" to enforce so-called christian values at the expense of other faith traditions, women's and LGBTQ rights, how our community responds to this encroachment of the religious right is of extreme importance to the future of our community. This proposed development is not right for us.

Once an historic home is gone, it cannot be brought back. The home on West Hill St. may be the oldest in Clarkston and one of the largest and most prominent. It is an anchor of the beauty of this town. If the permit was for one building and one address, I strongly urge a cease and desist on any further construction until we know if our historical architecture must be lost for good.

I live across the street from the IBC/NAMB/SBC Church and the only thing that was ever even mentioned was the renovation of the gym and the replacement of the existing main building. The plans for the ‘campus’ took me by surprise, and are completely inappropriate for this location. They need a good realtor to find them a location that better suits their needs. One plan I saw has a basketball gym with two courts directly across the street from our little cottage. This would result in a block wall maybe 130’ long and 25-30’ tall. I haven’t found anyone of any religious belief that would want that across the street from their house.

I support outreach and work with refugees, but please don't destroy more of our tree canopy and one of our few streets with well-maintained older and historic houses to do so. This doesn't accord with the plans shown to the citizens a couple of years ago, either.
