This is a dangerous stretch of road, and our local residents Facebook page is just one example that frequently shows adults posting about the near misses they have at this crossing as so many drivers fail to stop or slow down. Expecting our children to navigate this without CJ is completely and utterly unsafe. Blatant compromising of childrens safety is not the way to be trying to meet budget cuts.

Parents parking close to the crossing, distracted adults and children, and drivers cutting through the estate to avoid traffic on the main road, all make the area around the crossing congested and dangerous.
Add to this the fact that a large number of drivers seem to either not notice, or simply not care about, the crossing.
As it is the whole crossing area is less than ideal, without CJ it's likely to be lethal.
It's worth remembering also that she doesn't just control the traffic, but the pedestrians also. Traffic doesn't go over the crossing whilst she's stood in the road, but also children and parents won't cross unless she says it's safe. Without her cars will ignore the pedestrians and the pedestrians will ignore the cars.
CJ is a much needed resource - please don't take her away from this community, and please don't put the children here at risk for the sake of a few pounds a year. It's just not worth it.

It is far too dangerous not to have CJ, the location is extremely busy. We NEED a lollypop lady to help protect the children its paramount she remains for the sake of lives. As said above don't choose risking children getting knocked over for saving money, its disgusting, shame on the council.

Without CJ it's only a matter of time before someone is knocked down, it is so busy along that area, with cars. She ensures everyone is safe.

Please keep our children safe by saving our much needed lollipop lady. She does an amazing job. Don't let a fatality happen because it no doubt will without her there.

My children need this lady!! All the children that attend the school do. At what point did someone think that removing this lady from her role would be beneficial!? The childrens safety should be paramount regardless

Ex caretaker of the school, I know from first hand knowledge, the importance of this position. Perhaps the school could employ CJ?

My child was knocked down by a car while crossing the road by the shop. (Not during school hours) It is essential to have safe crossing areas for children on their way to and from school.

Wertheim Way is far too busy at school time not to have a lollipop person. Not only is there school traffic but also people using the Trsco store which is busy at that time too.

As a grandparent of a pupil at the school I have seen how busy the road is and feel it would be a big risk to loose the lollypop lady!
