WE DID IT!! THE TRADITION IS SAVED AND THE FULL MOP FAIR IS COMING BACK TO CIRENCESTER!! THANK YOU FOR STANDING UP FOR OUR TOWN HISTORY BECAUSE THIS VICTORY BELONGS TO ALL OF YOU!! NOW WE KEEP A CLOSE WATCH TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING STAYS EXACTLY THIS WAY FOREVER!!
Petition to try to save Cirencester's mop fair . CTC have issued a statement explaining this year the fair will be consisting of a single child's ride . . The fair has been coming to our town for over 650 years . It's a very welcome part of our towns historical tradition. Us , the people were only made aware of this ludicrous change today . We are not sure if it's too late to petition the decision . If so we believe the person who made the final decision should be held accountable . The fact of thousands of our children will be stood waiting for a go on a single ride for hours ( it's here for 3!) is appalling . It's not what we want . It's out town . Our tradition & should of been our choice .
We have to try something . Many useful suggestions have been made under the post on CTC Facebook account . These are being met with " CTC do not own the car parks " who are we paying to park in these ? Why is CTC on the ticket machines & will the owners agree to use ? Many question , maybe too late . We have to try .
Please don't take the Mop away ... My mum went az a child,I went az a child, my 2 children went n now my grandsons go.. Please keep this az this town is slowly dying az you take everything away from us Cirencester lovers...

Living in a town with not much for children and teens to do i think that the dismissal of the mop fair is a crying shame. I know as a teen it was one of the reasons i loved autumn and my own children love going too! Its a tradition it shouldnt just be forgotten about!!

Us locals, feel as though we are being disregarded and pushed out. The fair is a well established, long standing tradition. We, adults and children alike, all look forward to the marking of autumn with the mop fair. I am, if minds are put to work, somewhere could be found for the mop so it may continue.

Think this is wrong, there are so many families that can't get out of town to go to other mop fairs with there children in our town.
This would be a fight that our town should win so our kids can have fun, it's only once a week for 2 weeks a year.
Y not put it in the old bus station car park and let our town have our tradition back

The mop is a big part of Cirencester, everyone looks forward to it young and old, please allow us to have the mop this year. I have a 6 year old who is desperate to have the mop again and I would hate to have to tell her it's not on.

Why stop a tradition we have had for years,it benefits the towns shops also when the fair is on,surely with the work being down in town and chaos it's caused we need something positive.

It's something that's looked forward to each year for such a long time. The market place isn't suitable, half the rides can't go up ,its not the same!
Don't let the council ruin yet another thing for us all
