As it stands today, regarding non-licensed church parents day out programs, the law states that services for children less than school age can be available no more than two days in each calendar week, for no more than six hours per day. In the past, DHS has advised churches and church organizations that they could operate for more than two days each week so long as no individual child attended more than two days during any given week, hence separate Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday programs.
Recently, DHS received an opinion from the Office of the Attorney General to restrict these programs to two days a week, period, not allowing separate programs to operate within the week. This change will be effective July 2013.Therefore, we are asking for your support to overturn this opinion, in the form of a signature on this petition. We will be mailing and e-mailing a copy of this petition to the Office of the Attorney General at the end of December. Therefore, we need your support and signature by December 20, 2012.

I was just checking the list and the sheer amount of people who get why this is a disaster is genuinely overwhelming. It feels like we are finally moving past the confusion and people are actually seeing how much these programs matter for our community because honestly who thought limiting this was ever a good idea.

THESE PROGRAMS ARE A LIFESAVER FOR WORKING FAMILIES. WHY IS THE GOVT ALWAYS TRYING TO MESS WITH THINGS THAT WORK FINE???
This is ridiculous. My kids love their preschool program and it gives me a break to get things done. Leave them alone!
Total overreach. These places have been operating safely for years. Fix the real problems and stop picking on schools.
our church program is amazing. the kids learn so much and the teachers are like family. dont take this away from us.
what are parents supposed to do now? this makes zero sense.
