I just moved back to Sydney. One of the reasons why I joined was because you had squash courts please don’t take them.

Squash needs to thrive in Cape Breton! Keep both courts alive.

I use to work at the Y and I'm very involved with racket sports (mainly tennis) but considering the YMCA is the like one of the only places on the island to play squash, removing that court will provide more barriers for the people who are passionate about it. Relocating the courts could be an idea if able to find the right spot. I know that C200 is planning on adding on a piece to the building in the future so maybe one of the things they add could be a squash court.

One of the main things I hear about the ymca is there squash court and is part of the reason I’m looking to get a membership. However I want to wait and see what happens disappointed they taking away something I hear so much about.

The sport of squash needs specific facilities and these 2 courts are vital to the continued growth of squash on Cape Breton.

The Fredericton YMCA was looking at doing similar and we’ve worked hard to convince them not to do so.

A space for spin classes, aerobics, boot camps, CrossFit, yoga, etc., can be created out of almost any existing space. Squash courts in the province are limited in number to begin with. We need to protect those that exist and, if anything, put more money into updating them and better promoting the sport overall.

Squash is a great sport, providing excellent fitness exercise for everyone from about age 5 to people in their 80s. Closing squash courts instead of promoting the sport is the opposite of supporting fitness.

This is a shame. Sport communities are invaluable but cannot exist without facilities.

At a Bare Minimum the 2nd court should be 100% squash!! This is a farce to me.....I have had the pleasure of playing there....squash court AND viewing is likely 5% of square footage of entire facility!

Squash is an amazing sport, a full blown work out and an inexpensive sport to bring kids to. Keep these courts!

I can’t believe you would do this, it’s awful. I grew up coming to tourneys there - it’s more than courts, it’s a community.
