The museum should stay as it is, be properly publicised and should host historic events, or even other social events which would raise finance. Why not offer it for hire for meetings in the evenings? Also, please use Council reserves to keep it going. Cancel the proposed makeover for St. George's Place/The Parade (for which there is no need), and use the funds to finance the museum. It would be a great mistake to dissipate its contents elsewhere, and we cannot see its relevance to the Marlowe at all, as we were told when the theatre was built that it would have all the facilities it needed within the theatre complex. As the Council is suggesting it transfers the management of the Marlowe to private enterprise, there is a danger that the museum would be used for unsympathetic/inappropriate uses.

We must not abandon our heritage - and of course this museum is the kind of thing that should be attracting tourists, the lifeblood of Canterbury

I may never have visted this museum to look into my Kentish ancestors and their counties history, but I feel the closure of it would rob people the chance of doing just that, but its not just about family histry is it, for Canterbury has a long and proud history of which I'm sure this museum does itself proud; both for the county of Kent and (looking at the bigger picture) for the world.

I among so many think It is extremely important that anything to do with our Heritage , and especially Historic Canterbury should be valued and kept at all costs , the up and coming generations will eventually thank us in this ever changing world ! .

The museum is so important to the history of Canterbury. Such treasures should be guarded, not shut down.

The museum tells the story of Canterbury in a coherent way dispersing its exhibits will destroy this, the public will also lose access to a fascinating ancient building. There has been no effort to increase the museum's revenue. It would be much better if it could be placed under the control of the city's archaeological and history organisations.

How can a place like Canterbury even think of closing down a museum!

A fantastic display of Canterbury's rich history. This musuem tells the tale of Canterbury's existence with original artefacts from different history periods all under the same roof.

i found the blitz section particularly moving, esp in the light of more contemporary history. Also it's a good example of how to use a historical building without destroying its history.

The best thing for me in the Museum is Joseph Conrad's study, it adds an extra dimension to reading his books.

The neglect of the Museum, particularly in providing good (and usually any!) publicity looked very much like an attempt to provide an excuse to justify closure. There were many times when over recent years local people have expressed surprise to me about the existence or the continued existence of the museum!

This museum must be saved in its present form, as there would not be room in the Beany for all the material in the museum. More advertising of its location needs to be made.

This museum is a treasure and must be kept for both the community and its visitors. I'm sure we could arrange a rota of volunteers to deal with staffing.
