The museum has been starved of resources for a number of years, leaving most of the galleries looking tired and old-fashioned. At the same time entrance charges have risen. A revamped museum, properly advertised, will undoubtedly attract many more visitors than the current footfall.

This is a fascinating collection and visitor numbers are probably reduced because it has always been closed when I have tried to take visitors there over the last year or so.

Canterbury Heritage Museum is without a doubt one of the most enriching environments in the city. To lose it would be a massive loss not only to the local community but also to the tourism industry and to our own national identity.

How impoverished must people be forced to become in the alleged name of progress. Life is very hard for many and the richness of culture and learning is a breath of fresh air, so vital for stimulating minds with wonder and creativity. Without knowledge of history and the wonder of art and cultures we cannot go forward. It is a very false economy to destroy precious institutions which preserve and display for all, moments and conditions held in time by their preserved existence. Do not close museums and galleries. They are vital to the health of all of us.

I visited Canterbury laast year and was very impressed by this building. To close it would be an act of wanton vandalism of Canterbury's impressive heritage. Don't let the faceless "suits" win.

A city of the historical and archaeological importance of Canterbury should have a museum that helps to interpret that history to residents and visitors . The exhibition space in the Beaney is far too limited for it to be possible to do that satisfactorily there. York is a fine example of a city whose museums draw in visitors; Canterbury ought to be able to do that too. This building is an ideal dramatic, historic, substantial space just by the high street, which, with sign-posting and advertizing, could be bustling with visitors. Please do not change its use.

Current ticket price much too expensive + probably major factor in visitor numbers.

The easy answer is always to close something. Handing the management to a dedicated trust is a much better solution for this lovely museum.

I can't understand why anyone would even consider closing an institution which serves the historic city of Canterbury!
