Save Camp Seph Mack
In a recent strategic planning audit of properties and buildings owned by Boy Scouts of America Laurel Highland Council, many suggestions were made by the non-biased auditor to help make the Council more efficient, and of course to save money. Camp Seph Mack was noted as having an annual budget short-fall only in 2012, and it was determined that the Camp should therefore be closed, and that the lease with the Commonwealth be vacated. The Council will obviously have the final say, and they may ultimately choose to keep Camp Seph Mack open, however, in a proactive move, many of us who have devoted countless volunteer hours to the BSA, and to the Camp, have decided to send a decisive message to the Council, DO NOT CLOSE OUR CAMP!!! The Scout Office, centrally located in Ebensburg, and convienient for the majority of the Units in this area, is also on the chopping block. This too, would be to our detriment, and the success that our local Units have created with this resource being so close for all of us. WE ASK THAT YOU SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE WHO WAS A SCOUT, IS A SCOUT, OR WHO HAS BEEN AFFILIATED WITH SCOUTING IN THIS AREA OVER THE YEARS, AND ASK THEM TO SIGN THE PETITION SO THAT WE CAN SEND A MESSAGE TO THE COUNCIL, AND SAVE OUR CAMP FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. Thank you for your time and consideration.
