In the heart of Grand Anse, St George, Grenada is a leisure spot where for decades familes and friends have made many memories.
Unfortunately this area is under attack by our own Government who are willing to give it away to the owners of a hotel in the same area.
During this time we must all work together to demand that the Government of Grenada corrects its mistake and repeal this project.

We the undersigned; the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique oppose to the proposed relocation of the almost thirty years old Camerhogne Park, to facilitate the expansion of the Riviera Hotel. Our concerns are serious and we call upon the Government of Grenada to cease further action of this upcoming project so that we may contiue to enjoy one of our most beloved public leisure spot.

I commend Senator Ray Roberts and others on their effort's to brings this to Air. As I did a study on crown/prime lands in the Caribbean. This was some of my findings in Barbados the government was with face 2 major land issues: public access to beach lands and the purchase and sale of land to non-nationals which is relevant to Grenada. ➢ Public access to beach lands – the island possess some of the most beautiful beaches in the world as Grenada. The Barbados government has had to concentrate on 3 issues which are as follows (Maynard, 2003): • Ready access of vacant beach lands and the ability of locals to enjoy them • Public access to all beaches • Accretion of beach property Prime beach lands are not normally for sale and when they come on to the market they are way above the price of locals. The Town and Country Planning Development Office and the Coastal Zone Management Unit of Barbados are closely monitoring these lands with an aim to stop construction in active beach zones. Specific limits are set from the high water mark where buildings and barricades are banned. ➢ Non-National Ownership of Land - In 1998 the House of Parliament in Barbados looked into this core issue and made the following recommendations (Maynard, 2003): • Foreign companies should not be able to own land. • Land should always be reserved for Barbadians by allocating them plots when they reach the age of 18. • Lands for food security should be given precedence. • Lands should be made available to non-nationals on a lease hold basis only Economically the Barbadian Government have always benefited from land commerce that is obtained from foreign investors. This situate have created a divide between local Barbadians and the non-nationals which is the same for Grenada.
