Dear Friends, Family and Supporters of International Adoption We need your help and support to protect the future children of families adopting internationally through CAFAC Adoption Agency. Yesterday (Feb. 1), CAFAC families were informed that the agency would cease to exist effective February 3 without additional support from the Department of Family Services, Government of Manitoba. The CAFAC families involved are willing to pay the proposed increase in fees and urge the Department of Family Services to approve the fee increase and allocate interim funding to keep the agency operational. The adoption needs of over 600 families from across Canada are depending on CAFAC. Families are at various stages in the adoption process, but many have been waiting for as long as 5 to 10 years. Given the current state of international adoptions, the sad reality is that many families will not be welcoming the child/ren they dreamed about for years without the support from CAFAC. As a community, the CAFAC families are trying to come up with possible solutions to protect the well-being of our children and keep the dreams of starting or completing our families alive.
