In a time where we are concerned about students social/ emotional health the BWSD decides to eliminate the music and theatre programs? Those are the programs that many students are drawn to and the reason that they come to school! Please reconsider your decision on behalf of our kids and their mental/ emotional well being.

This music program is INCREDIBLE, depriving students of it is such a disservice. And if the KMS program isn’t available, then it cannot succeed at the high school level. This could eventually make it so there aren’t any performing arts opportunities in the district, which is totally unfair.

We cannot take away the music program at Mt. Hope High School! This is crucial for our well being, success in school, and set us up for great lives! It is ridiculous that the arts are considered inessential in our school!

Both music and theatre have had an enormous impact on my middle and high school careers. Without these programs, I would not be the person I am today. Support for the arts is a necessity, as they not only prepare students for related careers, but they promote responsibility, confidence, creative thinking, and a sense of togetherness as well. The success of these programs can determine the success of the students within the school district as whole.

This is unacceptable. I was part of the band, and it was great while I was in. It always kept me busy, and it keeps other students busy. Music is an important part of a school, it provides career opportunities to students that might not know what they want to to. It provides hobbies, now why would you want to take that away from kids? “Cant afford”. I think you school committee officials are pocketing money for yourselves

music is a huge part of so many students lives I don't necessarily preform but so many of my friends do with theater and this having the potential to get cut can be so harmful to our community

I did KMS chorus for all 3 years I was there, and the Colt Andrews chorus both years that I could. It truly furthered my love for music and I wouldn't be doing it in high school if it wasn't for these programs.

This is outrageous music is a such a big pet of my life and it helps so many kids break out of their shell. It inspires them to be creative and taking this away from us is t going to do ANYTHING. Not for the budget, not for the funds, but just so the boys football team can get more new uniforms or have more tv's that display nothing. Think on how many people are in this department. And now imagine if there were that many people in basketball or DECA. The board would DARE to cut those but see the arts as expendable only because we aren't embraced in society.

I'm sure we can find other things to get rid of besides the theater/music departments. We shouldn't have to terminate both a teacher's AND a student's happiness just to save some money. Please BWRSD, think twice before making a decision you will later on regret.

Music needs a place in schools. Without strong middle school music, High School music fails as well
