Save Bus Service on Wisconsin Avenue

I rely on the 37 daily for my commute to/from my office. This bus is frequently packed full with commuters and is standing room only. Additionally, there is no viable alternative to the 37 without having to take multiple buses or multiple modes of transit, which would drastically increase the commute time and only serve to encourage more single occupancy vehicles on the road, thus increasing traffic (and reduce money going to WMATA). The 37 is critical during rush hour, and the other 30 buses are critical throughout the day, in order to serve the existing population. Their service will become even more imperative as the population increases due to the various development activities on Wisconsin. Service needs to be increased and become more reliable rather than cut!

The 30 line buses are essential to my life, for work and getting around the city. We will be stranded without them.

Do not cut the lines! The sustainability of our daily lives and the lives of our children are at stake. We can find coverage! This is our right.

I rely on the 30 buses to get from Tenleytown to home, more than a mile away. Please don't cut them. I also used to take the 37 bus to and from my office, which was a much shorter than taking the 33 bus through Georgetown, which, without the 30 buses, was the only other option. Traffic on Wisconsin and Massachusetts Avenue and M Street is horrendous. Cutting buses on these routes will add to congestion and pollution and safety hazards for pedestrians.

The 37 bus is a critical rush hour route and I would hate to see 30 buses cut, also a stable bus line.

Save the 37 bus. It’s critical with the growing population around upper Wisconsin NW and getting downtown and back. For the 37 and all 30 buses, the homeless shelter on Idaho St NW is about to open, the Roadside development project is underway, and the city has planned additional affordable housing in the Tenleytown area. This growth, already crowded streets, and increased concern about pollution and climate change means this is the time to increase public transport, not cut it.

Metro's proposal is ludicrous - thank you for starting this petition.

I use the 30N and 30S to travel to and from the Library of a Congress. Especially in inclement weather, these buses are invaluable. I am a senior citizen and there are times when using Metro, which is located about a mile from my apartment, is just not feasible. However, there is a bus stop across the street where I can board the bus, and the bus stops across the street from the Library. I often need the 30N and S buses when I am downtown so I don’t have the mile walk from the Cleveland Park metro.

Stopping the 30S and 30N buses from their current routes will be one of the worst things that Metro can do, much lest even consider. That bus route is so imperative to the city travel of so many residents who live, work and go to school on that route. As someone who does not drive and lives on Wisconsin Ave NW, this would be disastrous. Even the late night dependably of this route is what myself and so many others have come to rely on. The availability to travel from one side the city to the other (NW to SE) without a transfer is a great convenience to many, many residents. We have come to depend on this service and will not like any appreciate any change to it's current status. Please keep things on this route the way they are.

I rely on the 37 to get to and from work every single day. It is the best transportation experience I have had in 14 years in DC and it would be a big shame to lose this route.

I use the 37 bus every day to get home from work - the 31 and 33 buses through Georgetown during the evening rush hour add a significant amount of time to my journey.

SAVE 30 BUSES. 1. I use these buses often to go downtown to meetings and doctors appointments among others. Taking the bus, which is now 2 blocks from my home, have been a blessing, not only to allow me to avoid traffic, but also to contribute not to using my car and save the environment. From morning to evening rush hour, I see the buses at almost full capacity. That means that there is a real need. 2. I believe that because of the eliminations of these buses, the District undermines their goal stated in New DC Policy T-1.1.7, regarding Equitable Transportation Access to ensure transportation within the District is accessible and serves all users. Especially in our district 3 zone that a new Shelter is being built that will facilitate the new residents to be able to have access to these buses to go to appointments (doctors and work related). 3. Approximately 25% of DC residents don't own a car and eliminating these very used buses will limit even more public transportation and would probably force these residents to buy cars, and for us who have it and use public transportation, will force us to use our cars more. 4. Of those 25% of DC residents there are many disabled and senior citizens who rely on these buses. So now they would have to transfer between buses and Metro which may entail long waits in cold or heat weather. For the handicapped residents, bus drivers make sure that their seating is honored. But this doesn't happen in metro. 5. City Ridge, the new project being built, scheduled to open in 2021, will be adding people to the neighborhood in need of public transportation. 6. Residents in Glower Park and Palisaded DONT have Metro access

As more and more apartment buildings are built on Wisconsin Ace, away from the metro, cutting bus lines is a mistake. Be smart! This will just make more people take Lyft and Uber and crowd the roads more.

I depend on the routes that are proposed for elimination to get to work and stay connected to the community.

I depend on the three bus routes that are being eliminated to get to and from downtown. I do not live near a Metro stop and my destinations downtown are not near a Metro stop either.

The 30 Bus Line begins at Friendship Heights and services the Tenleytown and Cathedral neighborhoods as well as Glover Park. Workers, students, and retirees depend on these buses for direct service. DC government Plans to increase “affordable” residential property and commercial density in our neighborhood do not seem to be taken into consideration by WMATA planners.

I ride the 37 daily. If WMATA were to add hurdles for riders (taking 2 buses instead of 1 express bus), it will only discourage people from taking transit at the exact moment we need to be encouraging more people to use it.

Please do not cut 30 series buses in Glover Park. A lack of transit is a known factor in neighborhood decline.
