Save Bus Service on Wisconsin Avenue

Senior citizens on a fixed budget without a car have no option to get from the west end of Glover Park to a supermarket

Please don't reduce bus services.

Forward thinking public servants and leaders will keep and improve the 30 busses and the D busses, as well as other public transport lines, so community members can be fully enfranchised in modern society without adding to the CO2 burden of heavily fossil-fuel dependent transport.

As someone who does not have a car, this would be a huge inconvenience. Is this the direction DC wants to move - encouraging people to drive cars? Is this the optimal environmental move at this time?

We need our buss

Since we have no nearby access to the subway, it is extremely important to have a reliable and far-reaching bus system to serve this neighborhood.

Keep the Glover Park bus line!

These bus lines are essential for the people who work and live in the neighborhood! It makes no sense to drop them, we NEED public transportation for our neighborhood and city to be vital.

The 30 bus service is very important to residents bordering Wisconsin Avenue below Tenleytown. For many, it is the only public transportation available to get downtown. Any cutback in service would be a significant hardship.

Dear Ms. CHEH, Dear Ms. CHEH, As a 30+-year resident who lives across from National Cathedral, I am concerned and angry to read the article from WTOP news, stating that WMATA is considering eliminating the 30S, 30N, and 37 bus routes starting summer 2020. We should be ADDING buses, if anything when the kids are sharing our bus to get to and from school. The buses are ridiculously crowded circa 8 or 8:30 a.m. as it is, without compounding the crowding. There is often no room to get on the bus going home 5:30 or 6 p.m. Please do not allow these vital buses to be taken away from us. These changes would drastically reduce the public transportation options for Cathedral Court residents like myself. For many residents these three lines offer an affordable, convenient, and easy connection to downtown, Georgetown & Tenleytown (Red Line metro). Loss of service will likely result in a loss of property values as our neighborhood will seem inaccessible to those without a car or to those unable to secure or pay for parking at their jobs. I work in Rosslyn and have no car. Many are in my situation, so I see this proposal as completely asinine. Thank you for listening and happy new year! Best, Erin P. Doherty

My family has long been using the bus lines on Wisconsin Avenue regularly. This way we can stay car free and reduce air pollution and traffic in the city. Are you planning to put in a streetcar line instead? Or in addition?

Our business is already struggling due to lack of parking, decreasing bus lines would hurt us even more.

I rely on these buses to get to work and around the city, and bought my condo because they are here. They are essential to this area of the city with no metro subway access.

I use the 30 buses multiple times per week.

I ride on 30 buses every day! I depend on the very capable drivers - no car. Please do not cut service in an way!

The main reason our family chose to live in DC, and specifically along Wisconsin Ave., rather than the suburbs, was the relatively good bus service. We have watched that service deteriorate over the past two decades. If there is a problem with ridership, it is because metro is becoming less and less convenient and reliable due to gross mismanagement. Just a few weeks ago, I had to wait for a bus down Wisconsin Ave. for over 40 minutes, in the evening, in freezing temperatures, with two young kids, while several “out of service” buses went by. That is outrageous! In this time of a global climate emergency you should be adding buses, not decreasing service!!!

The 37, the 30S/30N buses are regularly packed and needed for daily work and school commuting as well as access to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. Bus bunching can be a problem for all of these, but all these routes down Wisconsin and Massachusetts are critical for work commuting. All of these are vital connections to the red line. Transportation in these areas without connection to red or one of the other lines will force even more people into cars. This looks like a major cut in service at the very time we are trying to get more people to use public transportation. We simply cannot solve our issues with LESS service.
