For the decision makers at the shelter, you are humans that can make independent decisions; blanket policies are bad, so use some independent thinking. YOU made the poor decision to put this dog, just out of surgery, into an unfamiliar situation, in home with a small child. This was YOUR bad, not his.
The backlash of putting this dog down, will be severe. Allow for independent evaluation, because I think the extenuating circumstances will prove this dog to not be aggressive, but rather confused by his changing situations and hurting. I defy any of you to have surgery and have a two year old crawl all over you the next day, and not react harshly. Your actions are being scrutinized from around the world, be cautious of standing your ground, just because you think you're right. Do the right thing now, grant a reprieve for independent evaluation.

Due to the huge mistakes involved in Buck's adoption (adopted out the day after surgery to a home with a small child who admittedly provoked the dog???) he deserves to be given another chance by a rescue organization who is equipped to work with him and re-evaluate him. This is unjust.

As a volunteer for German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue New England, and an experienced owner of the breed, I have many years experience with not only this gentle, loyal, loving breed, but dogs in general. I have been involved in rescue and re-integration of dogs being rehomed. I firmly believe that the situation was was mishandled in the adoption of Buck, having been neutered the day prior to adopting him out to a family with a two year old, placed him in an extremely stressful and unfamiliar environment to his demise which provoked him to protect himself and bite. The Shelter was also negligent in not educating proper integration of a newly injured (neuter) dog with a new family in addition to releasing the dog without a current rabies vaccine. Buck deserves to be placed in a home that will set him up for success and the decision to euthanized him be stopped. Please allow Buck to be adopted!

This is nothing but murder due to the policies of the animal shelter. They have failed several times and this one is not going to go without being noticed!
