I had a cat in AZ that came in contact with a bobcat, she was quarentined for 6 months, no symptoms and we had to pay $20 a day. Had we not she would have been put down. Unfortunately there is a policy that dogs are not adopted out if agressive with food/people. (I don't agree with this) This dog doesn't fall under that guideline. Give him a second shot to have a good life.

He was postop, just re-homed. Too many humans played a role in what happened. We need to use common sense in these matters and consider all the circumstances.

Please consider transferring Buck to another shelter or rescue so that he can be evaluated rather than simply putting him down. Shelter staff told one family they wouldn't adopt to anyone with a child under 10 yoa but they then adopted to a family with a two year old who apparently didn't have enough experience with dogs. An adopted dog is always suspect until he/she gets used to the family and under no circumstances while they were getting to used to each other, should that child have been allowed to hug on Buck which put her face so close to his - despite the bite, the family of the two year old does not want Buck killed, neither should the city of Manhattan.

Please don't put down this beautiful dog. GSP's are wonderful and loving dogs, and I believe he was put into a situation where he couldn't win.
